Conference Season

After the year we’ve had, I’m sure there are many of us in the scientific community who are keen to get back to meetings and conferences. But, it looks like the organisers of such events are (sensibly) keeping meetings online only this year. Makes you wonder about the Olympics going ahead.

Anyway, I’ve had a look around and found a bunch, and I thought I’d share them with my readers to see who else might be interested. So, in no particular order:

Physiology 2021. The annual meeting from the Physiological Society is a good all-rounder, and was my first big conference I went to. It’s in July this year. https://www.physoc.org/events/physiology-2021/

SfN 2021. The big international neuroscience conference, from the American Society for Neuroscience. It’s planned to take place in Chicago in the US, and it looks like they actually plan to hold it IRL, so to speak. https://www.sfn.org/meetings/neuroscience-2021

IBNS 2021. I wanted to go to the International Behavioural Neuroscience Society annual meeting a couple of years ago when it was held in Australia, but I missed out. Gutted. https://www.ibnsconnect.org/ibns-2021-annual-meeting

BSN 2021. The British Society for Neuroendocrinology annual meeting will be joint this year with the French Neuronendocrinolgy Society, will be online only and take place in September. https://www.neuroendo.org.uk/page.php?item_name=EVENT%3A+BSN+Annual+Meeting+2020

BNA 2021. The British Neuroscience Association annual meeting was online only, in April. Oh well. But, I think they’re keeping online access to the talks until August. https://meetings.bna.org.uk/bna2021/

SSIB 2021. The annual meeting of the Society for the Study of Ingestive Behaviour is being held in July, online only. https://www.ssib.org/2021/

One final conference that I’m really keen to go to is the Optogen conference, but it hasn’t been updated since 2019, when it was held in Venice. I keep checking their website every couple of months, but so far no joy. https://optogen.eu/

Anyway, that’s all the conferences I’ve found of particular interest. I might well sign up to one or two of them, but to be honest I’m not sure how excited I’ll be for an online conference, as it’s basically just a bunch of webinars. I just can’t see how they will replicate the social aspect that’s the best part of any meeting.
